Bay Area Big Law Antitrust Litigator Joins Bona Law

May 14, 2025

May 12, 2025, SAN DIEGO—Joseph Trujillo, an experienced antitrust litigator, has joined Bona Law as a partner in its San Diego office.

Joey brings extensive experience litigating complex, high-stakes competition disputes. He has represented clients in actions under the Sherman and Clayton Acts, the Defend Trade Secrets Act, and California’s competition statutes—including the Unfair Practices Act, Unfair Competition Law, and Uniform Trade Secrets Act. His practice has included specific industry experience involving technology, finance, insurance, manufacturing, and energy.

Joey is skilled in every phase of trial court litigation—from forum selection and early injunctive relief to dispositive motion practice and trial. Joey takes an aggressive, client-first approach with an eye toward efficiency and long-term advantage—whether prosecuting claims, defending them, or both.

Before joining Bona Law, Joey practiced at Dechert and Orrick and clerked for the Honorable Phyllis Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He draws on his clerkship experience to identify, articulate, and shape litigation strategy around arguments that will resonate with judges and drive results.

“Joey is an exceptionally talented and strategic litigator who will strengthen our ability to take on large, complex antitrust cases,” said Aaron Gott, Chief Operating Officer of Bona Law. “He shares our creative, nimble approach to litigation and brings real experience trying—and winning—complex cases.”

Joey earned his law degree from Stanford Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in both economics and political science from the University of California Santa Barbara. He is admitted to practice in California and several federal courts.

“I am excited to join a firm that combines top-tier talent with agility and responsiveness to client needs,” Joey said. “Bona Law has a reputation for delivering exceptional results with lean teams, and that’s the kind of environment where I do my best work.”
